Useful tips for treating common skin complaints

There are many household remedies that can repair and prevent skin problems and give you healthy skin. Below are some tips that can help with common skin complaints.

1. Acne

Baking soda: baking soda and water are highly effective at combating acne. Mix into a paste and apply to your face. Leave for about 20 minutes and then rinse.

Tomato pulp: tomato pulp is a great way to get a tan, but it also helps keep your pores open so acne and pimples don’t stand a chance. To make a face mask, mix cucumber water with the tomato pulp. Apply to your face and leave for 15 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

2. Scars

Sandalwood: sandalwood powder has a cleansing effect. When mixed with milk or rose water, it can help to remove scars. Spread the paste over the scar and allow it to soak in for half an hour. Then wash your face with lukewarm water.

Almonds: leave the almonds to soak in water overnight. Remove the skin and crush the almonds. Then mix the crushed almonds with rose water and apply to the appropriate areas. Leave for a while and rinse.

Honey: mix honey, oatmeal and aloe vera gel into a fine paste. Apply to your face and leave for 30 minutes. Then rinse with lukewarm water.

3. Boils

Honey and egg white: mix some egg white and a few of drops of honey in a bowl. Spread on the boils and leave it for 30 minutes, then rinse it off.

Garlic: clean your face thoroughly and then rub the boils with garlic or garlic juice. Leave this to soak in for 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Lime juice: squeeze a lime and apply the juice to your face using a cotton pad. Leave it to soak in for 15 minutes and then rinse with water. Repeat several times.

4. Stretch marks

Castor oil: gently massage some castor oil into your skin for about 15 to 20 minutes. Cover these areas of skin with cotton wipes, and make sure you keep it warm.

Sugar scrub: create a scrub using sugar, almond oil and a few drops of lime juice. Rub the scrub in circular motions onto the stretch marks and repeat for 10 minutes. Then rinse with water.

Potato juice: take a potato and cut it into slices. Rub a slice on the stretch marks for a couple of minutes. Allow the juice to dry and then rinse with lukewarm water after a couple of minutes.

5. Ingrown hairs

Salt scrub: add a teaspoon of salt to half a cup of water and mix. Dip a cotton pad into the mixture and apply to the ingrown hairs. Repeat daily.

Aspirin mask: put 3 aspirins, honey, warm water and oil in a bowl and mix into a paste. Apply to the areas where you have ingrown hairs and allow it to dry. Rinse off after 10 minutes.
